Basic Reseller Manual in Adobe PDF (Print Version)
Advanced Reseller Automation Manual in Adobe PDF (Print Version)
As a reseller you are responsible for all your customer’s tech support questions, and you are also responsible for charging your customers.
All domains that are added through your control panel will be charged to your credit card.
You can then charge your customers any price you want. All Reseller
accounts must be paid on time, if a Reseller plan or any resold plans goes unpaid more than 14 days
past due date all Resold accounts will be suspended until payment is received. If a Reseller plan goes more than 30 days past their due date all accounts will be deleted from SpiderWeave.com's servers.
Discounts and Charges
All of the accounts that you add through your control panel will be discounted 30%- 50% off our already low hosting prices. Be sure and check our prices often because they are subject to change. Domain registration charges and setup fees are not discounted. You only get the reseller discount on the monthly payments not on top of the quarterly, semi-annual, annual and 2 year discounts that SpiderWeave.com may offer. Your customers will also have control panels, but there is no information on their control panel that shows our company name on it or any information associated with our organization. You can treat these customers as your own. In addition, all emails concerning your accounts will be sent to you including the welcome emails. You can then edit these emails and send them on to your customers if you like.
Support
Most of your questions are already answered in the Knowledgebase. You can search on any topic and get instant answers. If your answers cannot be found there, then you can send an email to
support@spiderweave.com or call 570 424-3379 to speak to a representative.
Steps
Below you will find the steps you will need to take an order to add a new domain and to park a domain. For each new account that you add, a welcome email will be emailed to YOU and not your customer. You can send it to your customers with your company information on it. Or, you can just keep the welcome email if you are handling all aspects of the account.
Setting up your Virtual Name Servers - (If available on your plan)
** Keep the default name server names that are given to you in your control panel (i.e. ns.yourcompany.com & ns2.yourcompany.com) It is not necessary to setup your virtual name servers in order to add domains. This is just an option that we provide our resellers. The only advantage of having virtual name servers is that with virtual name servers your customers see your company name as the name server when they do a whois lookup. If you do not setup virtual name servers then your customer’s domain name will just point to SpiderWeave.com name servers which will not effect any of your sites.
I. To set up your name servers, go into your control panel, click on the “virtual name server” icon. The button you see on the next screen says “install,” this “creates” your new virtual nameserver information
(ns.yourdomain.com / ns2.yourdomain.com) and the associated IP addresses. It takes up to an hour for our system to generate your name servers. Come back to your control panel after about an hour and click on the “virtual nameserver” icon and you will see the information created for your virtual
nameservers.
II. Next, go to the site where your domain name was registered and request to add nameservers to that domain name. Domain registration sites are different so you’ll need to follow their directions or contact them. Usually you choose an option that says:
“add name servers”. This is different from changing where your domain name is pointing.
(ie editing name servers) When you “add name servers” to a domain name you are actually ADDING name servers to your domain name so that you are a virtual hosting company. If you registered your domain name with us email support@spiderweave.com to find out how to update your domain name. There is no charge for changing name servers.
Your registrar will need the IP addresses and the name server names that you were given when you clicked on the ‘virtual name server’ button in your control panel. After you add your name servers to your domain name and you have verified that they are setup correctly (this can take 2-5 days) then you can then point your own domain name to your virtual name servers as well as your customer’s domain names.
If your domain name was registered with Network Solutions you can register your name servers at the following URL:
https://www.netsol.com/en_US/manage-it/index.jhtml
complete the online form, and it will be sent to the e-mail address you specify. If you have any questions, please call Network Solutions directly. Their toll free number is: 800-779-1710.
III. It usually takes 24-48 hours for name servers to propagate after you have completed all the steps. To check and see if your name servers are ready to use go to:
http://www.nsirepistry.com/
Adding a Domain
To add a domain go to your Control panel and click on the “Add Domain” button, then choose “Add Additional Domain” and fill out the form. If you have setup your Name Servers in the Control panel, then your name servers will be used when you choose “New Domain” or “Domain Transfer”. When you choose “New Domain” the domain name will be registered and you will be charged the Domain Registration charges. The name that you put on the new account will be the Owner, Administrative and Billing Contact for the Domain Name.
Remember that when you setup a new Domain the username cannot be changed without deleting the Domain so choose the username carefully.
Domain Transfer Procedure
When you choose “transfer existing Domain” an email will be automatically sent to Network Solutions initiating the domain name transfer. An email will then go to your new customer asking them if they approve the domain transfer. It is a good system), but it does say support@spiderweave.com in the header detail of the email. So, if you do not want your customer to see that, you should always choose “Don’t register me (I will handle my Domain Registration)”. Then, be sure and go to the Network Solutions Web site at: http://www.networksolutions.com and transfer the domain name yourself. If your customer registered their domain with another registrar, just choose “Don’t register me (I will handle my Domain Registration”).
Domain Registration
If the Domain is a new domain, click on “New Domain” and SpiderWeave.com will handle registration. You will be charged for the domain registration, and your name servers will be used as the servers it points to if you have setup virtual name servers. If you have not setup your virtual name servers, the domain name will point to our name servers.
***ALWAYS click on the link at the top of the page to see if a domain is available before you register a new domain! Otherwise, the hosting account will be setup with an invalid domain name and will have to be changed which can cause problems with the account!
In your control panel, you should now see the name of the additional domain you added. Click on the name and hit the “e-mail me” button. That will e-mail you the welcome email for that domain (which has the username and password for that account).
Adding a Parked Domain
Parking a domain name is pointing it to the already existing IP number of another domain. That way, more than one domain name resolves at one location. For example, you can resolve youmame.com and yourname.org at the same web site. It is also called a Bonus Domain Name. You will be charged
$2.00 a month for Domain Parking. To add a parked domain just click on “Add Domain” in your control panel then click on “Add Parked Domain”. In the order form choose the Master Domain (or the domain that you would like to park your domain name under) and then put the domain name that you would like to park.
If you choose “New Domain” we will register your domain name. The domain name will point to SpiderWeave.com name servers. You can change your name server information and have the domain name point to your Virtual Name Servers after your domain name is registered by emailing support@spiderweave.com. The domain name will resolve whether they are pointing to SpiderWeave.com name servers or your Virtual Name Servers.
If you choose “Transfer Existing Domain” and your domain name was registered with Network Solutions, we will initiate the transfer by emailing them your domain name and SpiderWeave.com name server information.
If you choose “Don’t register me (I will handle my domain name registration)” then you will need to be sure and point the parked domain to our servers. The information that you put in the fields for name etc. will be used for the domain name registration if you are registering the domain name with us.
Customizing Customer’s Control Panels
